I've been waiting to tell you....! BJ and I are blessed to be pregnant with our second child! We are extremely excited about this development and had actually tried for several months without success until Little Oot decided to be created. I know that when a friend of mine tells me that she is pregnant, I ordinarily have a long list of questions that I love to ask, time permitting. Therefore, any of you who are interested in this information will be saved all the trouble of asking because I will just tell you (for some reason this line reminds me of Cosmo Kramer saying, "Why don't you just TELL me what movie you want to see!" Sigh. Thank goodness TV stations still air Seinfeld reruns.)
We're due January 25th.
I'm 9 weeks and 1 day today.
Yes, we know the baby is fairly close in age to Silas, but the baby is expected and we are wanting our children to all be close in age (don't worry...this isn't actually a question that I would ever ask people but thought I may as well share our sentiments).
BJ definitely wants a girl and I am strongly leaning toward wanting another boy. Hey, I have a boy already so I may as well stick with what I know! That being said, all we both really want is a healthy child and we'll be tickled to death with whatever sex it comes out. A boy and a girl will both be loved equally.
Yes, we will definitely be finding out the sex. I am the kind of person that cannot handle a surprise, and fortunately BJ is in with me on this or else he would be disappointed because I would definitely win that battle.
We have a couple of serious ideas for names, but nothing certain. We are pretty sure about a boy's first name and we are definitely certain about a girl's middle name. Once we officially decide on names, I will keep you in the loop. And knowing us, we will decide LONG before Oot hits its third trimester, at which time the name Oot will be shed.
We had an ultrasound today and everything looked wonderful! We are so thankful!
How am I feeling, you might ask? Pregnant. For you math whizzes out there, isn't there some math equation that's like something multiplied by all the numbers leading up to it, signaled by an exclamation point? Like 8! = 8 x 7 x 6 x 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1? It's true, I might be smoking something (not really, I'm pregnant!). Well, if this equation is true I just made one up! Jenny = nauseous! where nauseous = nauseous x nauseous x nauseous x nauseous.... You get my drift. I knew I had to get my come-uppance though because I was barely nauseous at all when I was pregnant with Silas. I also am wiped and would like to be in bed by 8:15 every night, but alas, that ain't happenin' with a 13-month-old scooting around here. I'm lucky when I get to bed at 10:30. Also a little secret that no one ever told me so I'll impart the knowledge on to you: when you get pregnant with your second one, you show MUCH sooner than with your first. I already have an obvious belly and am wearing maternity clothes at nine weeks. Please do not misunderstand this paragraph as griping.... I am thrilled to be pregnant and will happily take the first trimester symptoms any day. I remember that during each of the previous months that we didn't get pregnant I thought, "If only I was nauseated right now." And now I happily am.
More to come on another night from our little blossoming family of four. Plus Tex. He says we can't forget him. =)

The Things We Say
Well, Silas has been walking for about a month now. We were warned by parents who have entered the walking realm before us that things would never be the same once he got going, and BJ and I have since come to learn that these parents were absolutely right. His skills became proficient quite rapidly, going from frequent tottering and balance problems with a maximum distance of 15 feet before a fall, to now practically a run when he is after something. Most of his falls now occur when he is walking while tired (well, doesn't that happen to all of us?).
So, in commemoration of the places Silas goes now (usually with our possessions in hand), here a few things that BJ and I have said to each other in the past week without so much as batting an eyelash:
1. Me: Have you seen my Aquaphor?
BJ: Yeah, I put it on the bathroom counter. I found it on the toilet lid.
2. Me to BJ: Someone unrolled almost the whole toilet paper roll again. Use the mountain on the bathroom floor first please.
3. BJ: Where's the remote?
Me: Oh, I think I saw it under the rocker back in the nursery.
I know this post makes it sound like our child runs around all day completely unsupervised. Please note that this is not actually the case. If you stop watching that boy and focus on your oven timer, barking dog, or running nose for even 35 seconds, the above dialogues are bound to take place. I will now act as one of those parents who has entered the walking realm and warn all of you with younger children: It's coming. That's right, it's coming.
=)
But it's so grand.

Poor Tara, and Poor ME!
This is our friend Tara.
Tara has been a friend of ours for many years, mainly because she is my best friend's other best friend. Wait, yeah, I said that right. One might suspect that there is some kind of rivalry between Tara and me, since we are both such good friends with the great Andi, but no, this is definitely not the case. As long as Andi has loved Tara, I have known and liked Tara as well.
Doesn't Tara look really pretty and fancy here? That's because this is her professional picture! You see, as of this week, Tara is now a published author! It's quite exciting. Her book, entitled Hereafter, was published by Harper Collins and is set to be Part One of a trilogy about a love story between a river ghost and a human. It's getting good reviews and looks to be selling everywhere, including Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, Borders, and Target. Andi said she even bought her copy at her local Walmart in Maine.
Tara had a book signing at Full Circle Bookstore in OKC today and I was excited to see her and have her autograph a copy of the book! As a courtesy to Full Circle, I canceled my order with Amazon about a month ago when she announced her book signing event today, and I planned to buy the book from the store today. I was SO excited to begin reading it tonight. WAS so excited. That's when the evil ogres that run Full Circle, a bookstore that I previously enjoyed, decided to insert their heads up their butts and not order any of Tara's books for us to purchase and, subsequently, for her to sign. Seriously, BJ, Silas, and I got to the signing at 3:10, which was ten minutes after it was scheduled to begin, and they were already out! What a bunch of morons. Nearly as bad was the fact that they were fairly unapologetic about it. They said they would order more and have her sign them at a later date, but of course it is my responsibility to find out when my book will be ready and then drive all the way back to the store to pick it up. I was told with a laugh that shipping is "steep" at the price of $7 (no kidding!) so I better just come pick it up. So we waited in line empty-handed so that we could talk with Tara and tell her congratulations. What a mess. I feel especially sorry for Tara and business she must have lost out on. Friends like us will come back to the store for the book, but I'm sure that there were many random patrons at the bookstore that were interested in her because she was there, and had the great idea of purchasing a book that a local author would even personalize when "Wala!" they are told with a sneer by a store clerk that the store that they are purchasing from is idiotic and did not buy books that the signing author is selling.
So, on a bright note, buy Tara's book! I hear it's fantastic! Then, since I don't have mine yet, you can tell me all about it in the cruel, cruel way that this world works.
